WhiteWater West
space
A 32,000 sq. ft. headquarters for WhiteWater West- global leaders in waterslide and water park design, relocating into the former Hootsuite building at 5 East 8th Avenue in Vancouver's Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. Currently in design, the two-floor workplace is being reimagined from the ground up, encompassing a branded tube slide connecting both floors, a central café, rooftop amenity space, fitness and end-of-trip facilities, a subterranean speakeasy pub and golf simulator, and immersive graphics running from the parkade to the penthouse.
The Culture Problem
WhiteWater West builds experiences that move people- literally. Their products are defined by speed, sensation, and the kind of joy that is impossible to ignore. But like many companies that scaled quickly, their workplace hadn't kept pace with their culture. Spread across two floors in a building that once housed a very different kind of company, the risk was familiar: departments operating in silos, collaboration happening by accident rather than by design, and a headquarters that said nothing meaningful about who WhiteWater West actually is. For a brand that sells wonder for a living, that gap was impossible to ignore.
Designing for Movement
The brief was clear: build a workplace that embodies the same energy WhiteWater brings to its parks. Edit Studios approached the project around a single organizing idea- movement, both physical and collaborative. The centrepiece of that vision is a dramatic branded tube slide connecting the two floors, drawn directly from WhiteWater's own signature attractions. It is at once a functional circulation element, a cultural statement, and a daily reminder of what this company stands for. Around it, the design creates the conditions for connection: a central café serves as the social anchor for the entire workplace, drawing teams together for company-wide moments, informal collaboration, and the kind of unplanned conversations that drive creative work forward.
Water in Every Detail
The design language runs deeper than a single signature moment. Lighting installations mimic the flow and curves of waterslide forms, while curated soundscapes featuring the subtle movement of water create a sensory experience that is immersive without being overwhelming. The material palette balances a refined West Coast aesthetic with unexpected bursts of bold colour — a direct nod to WhiteWater's globally recognized slide designs. That visual identity doesn't stop at the office door. Immersive graphics and branding moments extend through the parkade levels, ensuring that the WhiteWater experience begins the moment you arrive. Above it all, a rooftop amenity space offers sweeping city views, while a subterranean speakeasy pub and golf simulator tucked beneath the office floors give the building a range that matches the brand's ambition.
A Headquarters Worth the Ride
When WhiteWater West opens its new Vancouver headquarters, it will be one of the most experiential workplaces in the city- a 32,000 sq. ft. expression of a company that has never once played it safe. From the tube slide to the speakeasy, every decision has been made in service of a single idea: that the best workplaces, like the best water parks, are designed to make people feel something. For a global brand built on that exact promise, it was the only acceptable outcome.
