Mining Revival Building Concept

space

British Columbia’s mining industry is experiencing a revival with the most momentous change it has seen in some time. We are seeing resource companies reinvent themselves through innovative thinking in an effort to transition to clean energy. To continue this ongoing success, this industry will need to attract new talent and create environments that are open and inclusive towards people who many not necessarily picture themselves in this sector. Below we showcase our own internal brainstorming sessions of how to represent this resource industry in the workplace.

design that tells a story

Another important idea within the mining industry has been working with indigenous partners. Celebrating and paying respect to their culture, art and contributions is a vital concept that warrants continued attention in the workplace.  Using indigenous art throughout, can be a powerful tool to educate storey-tell and bring awareness. There’s nothing more enriching that being exposed to stunning pieces of art every day. Pieces that make you stop to look again and again, asking questions, starting a conversation.

MATERIALITY

Working in the resource sector, we are often inspired by what the earth yields through the extraction process. Celebrating all that the earth provides.  In this charette, we explored 3D modelling to illustrate the shapes of the topography of the land.  We looked at display opportunities to showcase different items that showcase soil and rock samples. We explored diamond drills to better understand the shapes and composite produced, and experimented on how these could show up in the workplace.
